Diaz Chavez weigh in, ready for battle!

By Matt Paras - With the sounds of Mariachis playing in the background, David Diaz, 136, and Jesus Chavez, 134.5, both weighed in Friday night at Marsicos El Veneo in downtown Chicago. Fight time is almost here and both are excited for it.

My training camp was great, we did what we had to do to keep the weight down, Diaz explained. There was probably a little [rust] at the beginning of training, but now we feel good and were going to see what happens..

Jesus Chavez hasnt fought since April 2009 with an exciting back and forth battle with Michael Katsidis, but hes eager to get back into the ring. My training camp went well. Were ready. Were on weight and we cant wait.

Both view the other man as a dangerous opponent.

Every opponent gives you problems and were getting ready for whatever hes going to bring. Chavez said. My experience is my biggest asset.

Hes a tough fighter, a good boxer, and were going to be in there for the long haul. And hopefully everything comes out good. Diaz stated. My strength is going to be the key to this fight. I think Im a little bigger than him, so, were going to try to do that.
David Diaz isnt looking ahead either.

I dont like to look ahead. I gotta take care of Jesus first because hes a big obstacle in my fight. Diaz did acknowledge how good the lightweight division is right now. I think the lightweight division is hot and we want to get on top of that.

Whatever the result is, the fight will most certainly be a shootout.
