RENO, NV (July 29, 2009) Super middleweight contender Joey Gilbert returns to the ring on Saturday, August 29th in the main event at “RURAL RUMBLE/FALLON FIGHTS 2009” an action packed evening of professional boxing at the Churchill County Fairgrounds presented by Reno’s “Let’s Get It On” Promotions and the City of Fallon, Nevada. Gilbert, 17-2-0 (13KO’s), is returning to the ring following his showdown loss with cross-town rival Jesse Brinkley on February 14th at the Reno Events Center .

Said Gilbert, ‘I’m very happy to be given this opportunity to fight again in the Northern Nevada area. I’m been in the gym for the last few weeks and have been working very hard towards returning to the ring.”

Featured on the undercard at “RURAL RUMBLE/FALLON FIGHTS 2009” will be Reno brothers; Derek and Tyler Hinkey. Both brothers will be looking to improve upon their most recent appearances on the undercard of the Jesse Brinkley/Mike Paschall “SUMMER SHOWDOWN” event on July 10th.

Said Terry Lane , “Derek won his fight but he felt his performance was a little lackluster and is looking to putting on terrific performance in Fallon. For Tyler, it’s a chance at redemption, he’s looking forward to bouncing back from his first loss and is grateful for the opportunity to do it in Fallon.”

Middleweight Derek carries a record of 8-1-0 (7KO’s), while Tyler’s first loss moved his record to 5-1-1 (4KO’s) in the heavyweight division.

Also on the card, sensational undefeated lightweight prospect Bayan “THE MONGOLIAN MONGOOSE” Jargal will make his first Northern Nevada appearance. Thrilling crowds across the country with his thunderous power, Jargal carries a record of 13-0-1 (9KO’s) into battle, most recently knocking out previously undefeated Josh Durden on July 25th at Hilton Head, South Carolina.

2008 Olympian Gary Russell, Jr. to Face Jason Jones in his Fourth Professional Fight on August 7

(CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD.) – Featherweight Gary Russell, Jr. (Capitol Heights, Md.) will take the ring for the fourth time as a professional on Friday, August 7 at Buffalo Bill’s Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nev. The 2008 U.S. Olympian will face Jason Jones (Kansas City, Mo.) (2-2) in a four-round featherweight fight, which will be contested on the undercard of ESPN Boxing’s “Border Warfare” card, featuring Alfredo Angulo vs. Gabriel Rosado in the main event.

The August 7th match-up will be Russell’s first professional fight in the state of Nevada, following victories in Oklahoma, Florida and California. He will be stepping through the ropes for the first time since a May 1st victory over Alvaro Muro in Santa Ynez, Calif.

“I have been training hard with my father, and I am definitely ready to get back in the ring and entertain a new group of fans in Nevada,” Russell said.

The eldest of six brothers, Russell has been working out with his father and younger siblings in their gym in the Washington DC area to prepare for the upcoming fight.

He recently accompanied his younger brothers, Allan and Antonio to the USA Boxing National Championships to support them as they vied for a title he claimed twice during his amateur career.

An accomplished amateur, Russell turned professional on January 16, 2009, and currently enjoys an undefeated 3-0 record as a pro. He will look to extend his unblemished mark to 4-0 with a win over Jones on August 7. Border Warfare will begin at 6 p.m. PST, with the doors opening at 5 p.m., and tickets start at only $10.


Jimmy Lange to Defend WBC USNBC Title against “Contender” Teammate Jonathan Reid on September 26 at Patriot Center

All-Star Card to Feature Beltway’s Best Talent – “Chop Chop” Corley, Bayan Jargal, Juan Rodriguez, Jennifer Salinas and Tony Jeter

Fairfax, VA (July 29, 2009) – Ice Promotions announced today that Jimmy Lange (30-3-2, 21 KOs) will return to the ring Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Patriot Center to defend his World Boxing Council (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Championship (USNBC) 154-pound title against his former teammate from The Contender, Jonathan Reid (34-11, 19 KOs), in the 12-Round Main Event. Tickets, ranging in price from $30 to $500 for VIP Ringside, are now on sale and available for purchase through the Patriot Center box office and all area Ticketmaster outlets.

The event, dubbed “Saturday Night Fights” and presented by Valcourt Building Services, will give Beltway boxing fans the opportunity to see an all-star lineup of the region’s best and most exciting fighters. Scheduled to compete are former light welterweight world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley of Washington, D.C., rising national lightweight prospect Bayan “The Mongolian Mongoose” Jargal fighting out of Arlington, VA, undefeated 19-year old junior middleweight Juan “Savior” Rodriguez from Haymarket, VA, fiery Bolivian-American featherweight Jennifer “The Bolivian Queen” Salinas of Manassas, VA and tough Columbia, MD middleweight Tony “Mo Better” Jeter.

Arguably the area’s most popular fighter, Lange, of Great Falls, VA, is currently ranked #11 by the NABF and #34 in the world by the WBC at 154 pounds. He was featured on the debut season of the boxing reality show, The Contender, with hosts “Sugar” Ray Leonard and Sylvester Stallone, lasting to week eight on the NBC series before dropping a decision to Joey Gilbert. He was voted back as a Fan Favorite where he defeated Tarick Salmachi. Last May, the Northern Virginia boxer, who has headlined all seven pro shows at Patriot Center before thousands of enthusiastic fans, dominated veteran Frank Houghtaling to earn a five-round TKO and capture the WBC regional title.

Meanwhile Reid, fighting out of Nashville, TN, was eliminated by Jesse Brinkley in week two on The Contender where he served as Lange’s teammate on the East Coast squad. Since the show, Reid has battled against world-class talents such as Pawel Wolak, Maxim Vlasov and Paul Smith. Earlier in his career, Reid lost a WBA middleweight title fight to former world champion and DC native William Joppy.
