News: Derric Rossy; Winky Wright; Orphius Waite

(Orlando Florida July 6, 2009) - This past Friday at Club Destiny in Orlando, Florida heavyweight contender, Derric "El Leon" Rossy (21-2, 12 KO's) scored a third round TKO over Moises Droz (13-8, 10 KO's) to capture the WBC Fecarbox Heavyweight title. Rossy, a former Boston College football player took charge from the opening round, landing accurate punches to the head and body. As the fight continued, Rossy continued to apply pressure and mounted an all out assault in the beginning of the third round forcing the referee to halt the action..

After the bout Rossy went on to say, "I've learned a lot over the past year and I feel I'll be ready to fight any of the top contenders in the heavyweight division. My goal is to get a big fight by the end of the year. I would love to fight Chris Arreola if he's willing to step in with me."

Rossy's promoter Sal Musumeci agrees that a bout with Arreola makes sense as he stated, "Rossy is Puerto Rican-American and Arreola is Mexican-American. This type of match is what the fans are waiting to see. It's rare to see two highly skilled Latin heavyweights do battle in the ring. The heavyweight division needs a fight like this to spice things up."

Launches Entertainment Company and Multi-City Fight Tour in US & Puerto Rico
Dubbed As Wright's Most Ambitious Boxing and Entertainment Venture

(New York, NY - July 02, 2009) Boxing legend and former undisputed light middleweight world champion, Ronald "Winky" Wright, announced the launch of Knockout Entertainment Inc. and its first project Knockout Fight Club, as a division of Winky Promotions. In an aggressive move to expand the Wright Empire, Knockout Entertainment Inc. is a combination of Wright's talent as a fighter and businessman. This is a joint-venture with former CBS Radio and Clear Channel executive and marketing guru Tony Hammel whose experience with brands such as WFAN-AM “The Fan” and WAXQ-FM “Classic Q104.3” validated Wright’s decision close the deal.

While Winky Promotions has a traditional approach to talent development, Knockout Entertainment Inc. approaches the sport with a distinctive method. The Knockout Fight Club series will showcase the talents of prize fighters in a unique setting that appeals to boxing enthusiasts. Knockout Fight Club blends musical performances with bouts and hosts the events in the trendiest clubs and cities in the Country. It is intended to literally take the fight to the fans. The series begins in New York City with following shows in South Beach, FL and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Wright set out to make the Knockout Fight Club his boldest endeavor to date. He took notes from meetings with high-profile leaders and their secrets to success. Wright recently rubbed elbows with President Barack Obama, whose strategic campaign inspired Wright’s overall business vision. In following weeks, Wright was commissioned by JetBlue executives as a special guest for the launch of their new route to LAX from JFK. Wright participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony, inaugural flight and exclusive launch party to commemorate the historic moment. Although, a far cry from the boxing world, JetBlue’s expansion and Barack Obama’s campaign proved to be similar business templates for Wright’s vision for Knockout Entertainment Inc.

“When it comes to business, I want to think big. In order to do that, I had to step back and look at how other successful people were making it” Wright says. He also adds, “I’m always looking for creative avenues to give opportunities to other talented fighters and I think we hit the mark with Knockout Fight Club. It’s one of the most exciting ways to give exposure to people who have a hard time making a name on their own.”

The first event will be held at M2 UltraLounge in New York City, August 19th. Special guests expected to participate are TV and radio guest host, Showboat of Pulse 87, internationally recognized DJs Frankie Vasquez and DJ Serg along with bouts including Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin.

CHICAGO, IL (July 6, 2009) Chicago based Simmons Marketing Entertainment LLC has announced the signing of undefeated middleweight prospect Orphius Waite to an exclusive managerial contract.

Newly formed earlier this year by NBA Star Bobby Simmons, Simmons Marketing Entertainment LLC also guides two-time heavyweight world title challenger “FAST” Fres Oquendo. Oquendo returns to the ring to headline at the UIC Pavilion on Friday, July 24th against former world champion Bruce Seldon.

With a body seemingly chiseled out of granite, Waite, 5-0-0 (3KO’s), turned professional after winning the 2007 Chicago Golden Gloves and has impressed Chicagoland fight fans with his terrific power and hand speed since his pro debut in November 2007.

Most recently, the Chicago born and raised Waite won a six round unanimous decision over the much more experienced Cedric Johnson on April 25th. A fight due to take place on June 12th against Michael Walker was abruptly cancelled when Walker became ill at the weigh-in.

Said Bobby Simmons, “I’m thrilled to add Orphius to our growing stable of world class fighters. In just a short time he shown that he has the tools and dedication to become a future world champion and we look forward to working with him towards that goal.”

Details of Waite’s next bout will be announced shortly.
