By Jaime Castro-Núńez: Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus, 27, who last Saturday night won in Kiel, Germany, the vacant WBA/WBC female welterweight titles, became Colombia’s first-ever female champion as she out boxed Vinni Skovgaard of Denmark. Braekhus, who was born in Cartagena de Indias on September 28, 1981, grew up in Norway and started her athletic career as a kick boxer at the age of 14..

She made her professional debut on January 20, 2007 in Switzerland with a one-sided win over Croatian Ksenija Koprek. From that point “First Lady” reaped nine straight victories, which gave her the chance to fight Vinni Skovgaard for the vacant WBA/WBC female welterweight titles.
