Maccarinelli Ripped And Ready For Banks

New look Enzo Maccarinelli vowed to put his ripped physique to good use next Saturday night against Jonathan Banks. The big-punching Welshman challenges for his old WBO World Cruiserweight crown against the undefeated American at the ExCel London. And he has embarked on a strength and conditioning programme ahead of the big fight which has seen his body mass index drop dramatically - and his muscle density increase two-fold..

Big Macc unveiled his new shape during a power-packed media work out in Newbridge, Wales, today. And the big-puncher insists that it will make him even more explosive than usual against Banks.

"I've been training twice as hard since the David Haye fight," said Maccarinelli. "It made me realise how much I love this sport, and the Monday after the fight I was back in the gym,"

"I've been doing all my usual runs and fitness programmes with the boys from the gym, but have looked to improve my strength as well,"

"I've been chopping logs and dragging tyres around to make me stronger, and I've already seen the effects in sparring.

"I don't think I've ever hit this hard, and I've had to hold back a bit there's so much in my punches,"

"But when I get in the ring against Banks I'll be giving it 100% right from the word go and showing everyone what I can do. Nothing less than a spectacular KO will do for me next weekend."

Enzo Maccarinelli ready to rob the Banks

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli says he is ďready to explodeĒ when he takes on Jonathan Banks for the vacant WBO title at the ExCel in London on Saturday 6th December.

The hard hitting Welshman told Setanta Sports News that he was relieved to finally be setting foot inside the ring again.

ďIíve had a long train camp, about 10 months to be exact. I was supposed to box in July, then in September and now weíve got to December. Iíve been training a long, long time with Joe [Calzaghe], Roy Jones [Junior] and [Bernard] Hopkins.

ďIím just looking forward to getting back in the ring. It doesnít bother me whoís in the opposite corner, I just need to fight.Ē

The clash against Banks is Maccarinelliís first since his defeat against David Haye back in March. And ĎBig Mací knows he will have to put in a big performance to win over the doubters.

ďItís not as if Iíve done nothing over the last six, seven months. Iíve kept myself in shape, kept myself fit and Iíve kept my weight right.

ďIím not going to be ring rusty. People are going to question whether Iím going to come out nervous, if Iím going to come out gun shy.

ďBut I can tell everyone, as soon as that bell sounds Iím going to take control in the centre and throw some bombs.Ē
