Showtime Workout Quotes: Wladimir Klitschko

09.09.04 - Former WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko makes his SHOWTIME debut when he faces NABF Heavyweight Champion DaVarryl "Touch Of Sleep" Williamson in the main event of a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING tripleheader on Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In a pair of world championship fights Oct. 2 on SHOWTIME, IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Verno Phillips will make his initial title defense in a rematch against IBF No. 1 contender Kassim Ouma and IBF No. 1 contender Syd Vanderpool will take on IBF No. 4 contender Jeff Lacy for the vacant IBF super middleweight belt.

WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO - "I am still disappointed about losing my WBO title fight to Lamon Brewster, and the way I lost it, but the past is past and it makes no sense to look back. I just know that I was in excellent shape, maybe the best shape of my life, but it was not me in there and I do not know what happened.

"No excuses, however. Lamon Brewster is a good fighter. Maybe there will be a rematch some day. But I cannot think about that. The most important thing for me now is to win on Oct. 2. I appreciate the fact SHOWTIME is televising this fight. I am still very confident in my ability. But I cannot look past DaVarryl Williamson. He is a strong fighter with a good punch who, I am sure, will enter the ring very confident.

"But I think Williamson is a good opponent for me.

"The goal and dream of my brother, Vitali, is to be heavyweight champions at the same time. He is the WBC champion now. I had my chance but lost. But we can still do it."
