Mikkel KesslerDanish superstar Kessler is no stranger to German boxing fans after stopping former champion Markus Beyer in the third round of their unification clash in Copenhagen back in October 2006. “I will try to avenge the loss,” Haussler added.

The fight will be staged in Oldenburg´s Messehalle. Team Sauerland had won the purse bid earlier this summer.

Michael Buffer in town for Huck-Monrose

Living legend Michael Buffer is expected to arrive in Bielefeld on Friday afternoon to serve as the ring announcer for Marco “Captain” Huck´s title fight against European cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Monrose. Fans in Germany are already hotly anticipating the visit of the famous star, who has played in numerous Hollywood films.

Fittingly, his current movie, You Don't Mess with the Zohan, is featuring in the cinema where the weigh-in will be held. However, Buffer will be on a tight schedule. His noon arrival at Frankfurt Airport will leave him with only four hours to travel to Bielefeld. “It will be close, but we´ll get Michael there in time,” Kalle Sauerland said. “I am very confident he
will make it.”

Buffer is looking forward “to a great evening of boxing in Bielefeld”. He said: “I promised Marco I would do my best to be there for him and my schedule was clear for that date so my friends at Sauerland Event, knowing this was an important night for the Captain, did everything necessary to bring me to Germany in time.”

It is not the first time Buffer calls Captain Huck into the ring, and he certainly has a high opinion of the 23-year-old cruiserweight. “Marco is a very special young fighter whose heart, courage and dedication to the sport are a sign that he is made of championship material and it will be exciting, for me, to be there as he takes another step toward his goal of being a world champion,” he added.

Buffer is also full of praise for Huck´s coach, Ulli Wegner. “He has one of the best trainers in boxing with Ulli Wegner in his corner who knows how to mold a fighter into a champion,” he stated. “Marco is an exceptionally strong athlete who is still young and needs the experienced guiding hand of Ulli to keep him focused and he will surely need that influence against the Euro champion, Monrose.”
