Four times Croatian amateur champion Ivica Bacurin signed with ARENA and will give his pro-debut on Saturday, April 19th 2008 against Ben Nshofah (1-0) from Darmstadt. 25-year-old Bacurin came to Hamburg upon the recommendation of former WBA light heavyweight champion Stipe Drews..
“I’m glad to be with ARENA” stated Bacurin. “I could have fought at the Olympics as I was already qualified for Beijing but I thought this is the right time to turn pro. I want to thank ARENA-CEO Ahmet Öner and, of course, my friend Stipe for giving me this chance. It’s like a dream coming true.”
Along with Bacurin Öner sends his promising prospects Mustafa Karagöllü (middleweight, 10-1-0) and Sebastian Sonntag (super middleweight, 4-0-0) to fight at Saturday night’s show in Ochtendung.
The next ARENA-show takes place one week later (April 25th) when “Mini-Tyson” Selcuk Aydin tries to win the vacant WBC international champion title against experienced Lucky Lewele from South Africa in Selcuk’s hometown Trabzon, Turkey.
