Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports put on a hell of a show, titled “Rumble At the River,” a fitting title for the lively night of entertaining boxing, from start to finish.

The main event featured the return of Peter Manfredo, Jr., pitted against Shane “The Irish Hitman” Benfield. Must have been a bit intimidating for the South Carolinian to come into the den of “The Pride of Providence” for ten rounds at super middleweight, but he didn’t show it, in his valiant efforts through six rounds, before he was stopped by TKO in the 6th.
While Benfield came in at 169 ¾ lbs, Manfredo weighed in at a hefty 170 ¼ lbs, maybe his heaviest weight to date..
And when the first bell rang, Manfredo and Benfield traded, for most of six rounds, a great volley of jabs and body shots that kept the full capacity crowd on their feet and cheering for more.
Manfredo had the better technique, and was seemingly ahead on the score cards, while a bloodied Benfield refused to back down and went for broke, coming inside, willing to take infliction, in return for the head and body shots he countered. But, at 2:30 of the sixth round, referee, Ricky Gonzalez, had seen enough and waived the fight off, as Manfredo pummeled Benfield in the center of bent ropes.
With the win, Peter Manfredo, Jr. notched his 14th KO in 29 professional wins, with only five losses, while Benfield suffered only his second loss, with 17 wins, and 9 KO’s.
