Boxing Back in Butler Feb. 29th
Professional boxing returns to Butler, Pennsylvania after almost three years. Promoter/matchmaker, John Byrns, in association with Shadyside Health & Fitness presents a six-bout card on Friday February 29th at the Days Inn in Butler. Headling the event will be local heavyweight Jimmy Emrick (3-1 2ko’s) of Butler. Emrick collides with Toledo, Ohio’s Dan “Mean Machine” Whetsel (9-13-1 5ko’s) in the six-round main event..

The undercard will feature several local fighters from Pennsylvania and Ohio in four-rounders. Pittsburgh’s Jimmy Lubash (2-1) meets Springfield, Ohio’s Don Shrock (2-7) at super middleweight, while Rod Salka (3-0) of Pittsburgh faces Eric Burke (5-16-2) of Columbus, Ohio at junior welterweight. Also, Pittsburgh welterweight, Khristian Geraci (1-2), battles Cliff Gregory (0-2-1) of Farrell, Pennsylvania, while Tom Joseph (1-1) of Youngstown, Ohio tangles with Terrence Miller (0-1) of Cleveland in another welterweight four-rounder.
Rounding out the card, super middleweight, Dave ‘Cookie” Cook of Butler makes his debut against Gonzalee Jones (1-9) of Akron, Ohio. In addition, heavyweight contender, Brian “ The Beast” Minto (29-2 18ko’s) of Butler will be signing autographs and announcing his next fight at the show beginning at 7:30pm.
