Pavlik Announces Mountaineer Card

In addition to discussing preparations for his upcoming fight with Jermain Taylor (27-1 17ko’s), WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion, Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (32-0 29ko’s) took time Thursday at Anthony’s on the River in Downtown Youngstown, Ohio to announce the Sunday, December 30th card at The Mountaineer Racetrack & Casino. Pavlik, from nearby Youngstown, Ohio, expressed his support for the local boxing scene..

Heavyweight contender, Brian “The Beast” Minto (28-2 17ko’s), of Butler, Pennsylvania will headline the 7 bout card in the 10 round main event against Byron Polley (21-7-1 10 ko’s) of St. Joseph, Missouri for the vacant WBA Federcentro Heavyweight Title. Beginning at 2pm, the undercard will feature the 12 round USBA Lightweight Title between Verquan “The Show” Kimbrough (18-1-1 7ko’s) of Alliquippa, Pennsylvania and Oisin “Gael Force” Fagan (20-4 12ko’s) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

In addition, heavyweight “Bad”Chad Van Sickle (21-7-3 12ko’s) of Columbus, Ohio meets Pittsburgh’s Carlton Johnson (15-14-2 10ko’s) in a six rounder, while Chris “Nightmare” Stallworth (8-1 3ko’s) of Pittsburgh faces Dan “Mean Machine” Whetsel (9-12-1 5ko’s) of Toledo, Ohio in another heavyweight six. Also, Jimmy Emrick (2-1 2ko’s) of Butler, Pa. battles Cleveland’s Corey Gregory (5-14 3ko’s) in a heavyweight four rounder.

Two welterweight four rounders close out the card. Steve Perry (0-1) of Youngstown, Ohio squares off with Khristian Geraci (0-2) of Pittsburgh, while Cliff Gregory (0-2) of Farrell, Pennsylvania collides with Eric Burke (4-16-1 4ko’s) of Columbus, Ohio.
