Lacy lost his previous title in a one-sided beating from Joe Calzaghe in March 2006. In his return from that fight, Lacy won a unanimous decision over Vitali Tsypko, despite tearing his rotator cuff. He underwent surgery last December and has been inactive since. Manfredo (28-4, 13 KO) is coming off a victory in June earlier this year over David Banks. Manfredo got his shot against long-reigning champ Calzaghe as well, but was stopped in just three rounds.
Ponce De Leon (33-1, 30 KO) will also premiere the undercard as he challenges Eduardo Escobedo (20-2, 14 KO) in defense of his WBO Junior Featherweight title. De Leon has been impressive in his last two bouts with a one round TKO victory of Rey Bautista in August and a fifth round KO over Reynaldo Lopez in September. Escobedo has been impressive of late as well in winning his last seven fights.
