Victor Ortiz Knocks Out Carlos Maussa In The First Round, David Haye Knocks Out Mormeck

10.11.07 - Matthew Hurley: “Vicious” Victor Ortiz, 20-1-1 with 15 KOs knocked out Carlos Maussa, 19-5 with 17 KOs at one minute forty-seven seconds of the first round with a sharp left cross to the right cheek. Ortiz, a young, exciting contender who is naturally right handed but fights southpaw measured the awkward 36 year-old Maussa from the opening bell and then backed him into the ropes. He missed a right uppercut but the left hand was already on the way. The punch drew blood and the full ten count from referee Johnny Callas..

David Haye knocked out Jean-Marc Mormeck in the seventh round to take the Frenchman's WBC and WBA world cruiserweight titles in Paris, France tonight. Haye, who is moving up to heavyweight, said he now wanted to take on WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli but only if the Welsman moves up to the higher weight division.
