It's Ghost Time! Guerrero Stops Honorio in 1st round!

11.06.07 - by Joshua "Travz" Travilla: The fight was supposed to be considered a classic. However, it didn't work out that way when the reigning International Boxing Federation Featherweight Champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (21-1-1,14 KOs) easily dismantled the dream of Martin "El Brochas" Honorio (24-4-1, 12 KOs) in the first round to become world champion..

"The Ghost" Guerrero needed just 56 seconds to annihilate the challenger Honorio on Saturday, dropping him with a huge left hand in the first round at Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson, Arizona. To his credit, Honorio somehow made it up, but he looked to be in no shape to continue fighting, prompting the referee to move in and halt the one-sided beating.

The win will not only broaden the horizon of Guerrero to unify its belt to those reigning Featherweight Champions of the world but also open a better prestige for a more sound competition in this particular division whom the action were always expected.

At this point, World Boxing Council featherweight champion Jorge Linares appears to be the best option, aside from World Boxing Organization featherweight champion Steven Luevano, to take on Guerrero for overall featherweight supremacy. Linares matches up well with Guerrero because of his excellent boxing skills.
