Howard Eastman Is NOT Stripped Of His Title

09.11.03 - By Spud Woollatt: Howard Eastman Is NOT Stripped Of His Title
In an exclusive interview with British Eastside this evening, Mick Hennessy has spoke about the rumours circulating British Boxing concerning his exciting World Class Middleweight, Howard Eastman..

On another less quality boxing site a rumour was circulated that Howard Eastman could possibly be stripped of his European Middleweight Title. This rumour was circulated due to Howard's unfortunate withdrawl from his impending mandatory European Title defence against Spain's Jorge Sendra, due to Howard injuring his leg in training for the fight.

On speaking to Eastside, Mick Hennessy stated "Yes the Spanish did complain to the EBU and wanted Howard stripped of his title, so Jorge Sendra could fight for the vacant title. The Committee did meet and confirmed Howard would NOT be stripped of his title".

Hennessy then added "Instead of certain people scaremongering, why don't they wait for official confirmation of what the EBU has to say about their findings. More importantly why on earth would the EBU want to strip the title from their best pound for pound champion due to him pulling out of a defence because of a genuine injury, it would not make sense".

Hennessy also added "Howard Eastman will fight Jorge Sendra for the European Middleweight Title sometime in the new year".

Mick Hennessy continued the conversation by stating that he still very much looking forward to his show in Derby. "Carl Froch has been matched with another unbeaten prospect Alan Paige for the English Super Middleweight Title and an eliminator for the British Title. The fans urge promoters to place their prospects in real fights to see what they are made of and surely they must agree Carl is in an exciting fight with Alan. Carl is going from strength to strength in both his fights and in training and 2004 will be an exciting year not only for him, but also Hennessy Sports".

British Eastside thanked Mick Hennessy for claryfying the the situation concerning Howard Eastman and wished him all the best for the future.
