“Piolo” Castillo out-hustles Ledesma

Ricardo “Piolo” Castillo (33-4, 22 KO’s) won a unanimous decisión over Colombian Andres Ledesma (14-6, 9 KO’s) at The Morongo Casino in Cabazon, Californiain front of an estimated 1,000 spectators. Castillo won the Cabofe WBC Superbantamweight belt. It was a hard fought battle at a grueling pace with Castillo’s agressiveness being the key to victory. Castillo was surprisingly knocked down during the last seconds of the fight. The scores were 97-92, and 95-94 (twice.).

Franco gets hard fought win

Undefeated bantamweight Michael Franco (9-0, 6 KO’s) won a unanimous decision over Daniel Quevedo (6-6, 5 KO’s). The scores were 58-56 (twice) and 57-55.

It was another thriller as Quevedo showed up to fight and gave the “Lil Warrior” all he could handle. Quevedo gave as good as he got and even managed to score a flash knock down. Franco ultimately landed the harder and more numerous punches which sealed him the hard fought win.

Valverde defeats Marks in a close one

Christian Valverde (9-0, 4 KO’s) won a split decision over Joshua Marks (3-1, 3 KO’s) with scores of 59-55, 58-56 (Valverde) and 59-55 (Marks).
Valverde and Marks slugged it out at a non stop pace. Marks boxed and used his speed well as Valverde came forward using his power and strength. It was a close fight with both men fighting with a hungry demeanor.

Cervantes stops Olvera

Luis Cervantes (4-1, 2 KO’s) wins by TKO in 3 over Larry Olvera (6-11, 4 KO’s).
A real battle with both men laying it on the line. Olvera fought his heart out but was dropped twice courtesy of right hands. He got up and fought on bravely only to have his corner decide that he shouldn’t come out for the fourth stanza.

Jose Luis Castillo was honored by the World Boxing Hall of Fame for his achievements. Also on hand was former world Heavyweight champion Mike “Hercules” Weaver.

The bouts were promoted by II Feathers boxing in conjunction with Fernando Beltran’s Zanfer Promotions and televised by Azteca America
