Upcoming Bouts: Spinks-Phillips, Tarver-Green, Ouma-Roman, and McCullough-Martinez

European super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez, 17-0 with 14 KOs will take on former world champion Wayne “The Pocket Rocket” McCullough, 27-6 with 18 KOs. The bout has been signed for December 1st in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This will be McCullough’s first fight since losing by TKO in the 10th to Oscar Larios in 2005..

International Boxing Organization light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver, 25-4 with 18 KOs will also fight on December 1st against former World Boxing Council interim super middleweight champion Danny Green, 24-3 with 22 KOs. Tarver was scheduled to fight George Blades but when contract negotiations between Tarver and Green, which had been problematic, were finally negotiated the Tarver – Blades bout was scrapped.
Negotiations are underway for Cory Spinks, 36-4 with 11 KOs to defend his IBF junior middleweight championship against Verno Phillips, 41-10 with 21 KOs. Spinks is coming off a failed bid to annex the middleweight crown from Jermain Taylor. Spinks lost by split decision. Phillips’ last fight was a 10 round unanimous decision victory over Eduardo Sanchez in February of this year. The IBF has stipulated that Spinks’ mandatory defense is due by November 3rd. No official date or site has been determined.
Former junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma, 25-3 with 15 KOs will fight Saul Roman, 27-4 with 24 KOs on Friday, November 2nd at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California. Ouma is coming of a unanimous decision loss to middleweight champion Jermain Taylor. Roman lost his last bout via 4th round TKO to Daniel Stanisavljevic.
