Ann Wolfe Camp Responds
02.06.04 - Responding to those who have been critical over her actions after Ann Wolfe KO’ed Vonda Ward, Ann Wolfe said she is sorry if anybody was offended. Further, Ann said she did not immediately realize the extent of Ward’s injuries from the single overhand right that sent Ward to the canvas and to the hospital.

“I know I hit her hard, but I didn’t think it was that hard”, Wolfe said. “I guess the fact the she [Ward] was coming at me and I was moving toward her when I threw the punch made it more effective than I realized”.
Wolfe said she was timing and measuring Ward, particularly because of her height. “She is so much taller than anybody I’ve been in the ring with, I had to find her head. The first right I threw with force landed on her shoulder, so I knew I had to go higher”.
Wolfe said she did not intend to disrespect Ward and she was concerned for her once she learned Ward wasn’t getting up. “When they started to bring in the stretcher, I realized she was hurt worse than I thought. I tried to visit her at the hospital and I called her manager at the hospital and he said she would be okay.”
“When I told Sean O’Grady Vonda would have done the same thing to me, I meant she would have knocked me out if she could have. We all run that risk every time we step into the ring. When I fight, my main objective is to knock out my opponent. I know I punch hard and I will not apologize for that. But, if my actions after the knock out offended anyone, I am truly sorry.” Ann Wolfe said.
