Sidorenko Stops Arnould in 7th round KO!

sidorenko29.06.07 - WBA bantamweight champion Wladimir Sidorenko (20-0-2, 7 Kos) defeated challenger Jerome Arnould (14-3-1, 7 Kos) in a one-sided title match, dropping him in the 7th round of a scheduled 12-round bout on Friday night at the Palais des Sports de Marseille in France. Arnould, 22, ranked # 12 in the World Boxing Council, was no match for the much Sidorenko, who hurt him repeatedly with fast combinations, knocking him to the canvas in the 5th round.

Sidorenko, a native of Ukraine, continued to apply steady pressure on the inexperienced Arnould for the next two rounds before connecting with two consecutive right hooks in the 7th round, which sent Arnould to the canvas for the final time.

The referee then stepped in and halted the bout. This is Sidorenko’s fifth title defense, although strangely enough only his 3rd win during that time span, because two of the bouts, against tough challenger Ricardo Cordoba (30-1-2, 19 Kos), were scored a draw.
