Diaz, from Coachella, Calif., has a record of 39-5 with 28 knockouts and is the older brother of Julio Diaz, who fights International Boxing Federation lightweight champion Javier Jauregui in a 12-round title bout Thursday at the San Diego Sports Arena on a nationally televised card presented by Ringside Promotions By Sycuan and Golden Boy Promotions.
The 28-year-old Diaz is one of only two persons to beat over current undisputed world welterweight champion Cory Spinks. Diaz also has a win over the highly regarded Mickey Ward.
Diaz fought Shane Mosley for the World Boxing Council welterweight championship during 2000 in Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The 39-year-old Norris, who now campaigns as a heavyweight, has a record of 54-8 with 30 knockouts.
Norris, who has not lost since 2001, meets Roberto Coelho Thursday at the San Diego Sports Arena on the undercard of the Jauregui-Diaz IBF lightweight championship show presented by Ringside Promotions By Sycuan and Golden Boy Promotions.
Norris held the WBA cruiserweight championship during 1993, 1994 and 1995.
Norris moved up to heavyweight during 1999, the same year he met former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Norris also has fought current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.
