Sinan Samil Sam Ready For Oliver McCall

11.06.07 - Sinan Samil Sam can’t wait for the WBC International Championship next Saturday in his hometown Ankara to begin. The “Bull from Bosporus“ paws the ground. Sinan: “For me we could step into the ring tonight. I’m definitely ready to go. I want to proof to all my fellow countrymen and to the world that I deserve a title fight..

The Turkish national hero is currently ranked on #2 in WBC, his opponent “The Atomic Bull” Oliver McCall is ranked on #4. The winner of the “Bull Fight” is very likely to become next No.1 contender on the World Championship.

Sinan: “That’s a great perspective. It was always my goal to become World Champion. But first of all I am focussing on McCall. He is very dangerous and has not been World Champion by chance.“

In 1994 McCall beat Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis by tko in round 2. Like in Ankara, the now 42-year-old won the bout “abroad” – in London’s Wembley stadium.

Nonetheless Sinan’s new trainer Manny Masson is sure that his fighter will win in front of his home crowd. The 46-year-old American came from Chicago to Hamburg based arena Box-Promotion. Among others he worked with former World Champion Vaughn Bean in the past.

Masson describes his boxing philosophy as follows: “In the ring you got to dominate your opponent. You got to work on him, hit him as much as you can and make sure that you don’t get hit yourself. It’s as easy as that. Therefore you have to keep on moving fast. You cannot give your opponent an easy target. Instead you got to throw lots of punches to keep him busy and to open up gaps for the final punch. Fast hands are hard hands – speed is the name of the game.”

Speed has never been one of Sinan Samil Sam’s strong points. So far the “Bull from Bosporus” won his fights by will power, a good chin, physical strength and stamina. Masson: “We worked a lot on Sinan’s technique in the last couple of weeks. I am sure that we will see a new Sinan Samil Sam next Saturday. He will definitely win the fight. I don’t want to promise too much but judging from the training impressions I believe Sinan might even knock out McCall.”
