Manfredo stops Muller in 9th round KO

11.05.07 - Super middleweight Peter Manfredo Jr. (27-4, 13 KO’s) returned to action on Friday night, stopping journeyman Ted Muller (19-11-2, 9 KO’s) in the 9th round at the Twin River Event Center, in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Manfredo, who was badly outclassed by Joe Calzaghe in a 3rd round stoppage in April 2007, was simply too good for Muller to contend with, as he battered the journeyman at will until the stoppage in the 9th round. Fighting tough on the inside, Manfredo landed often with hooks to the head and powerful body shots that kept Muller from mounting any of his own attacks.

Manfredo, 26, mainly notable for fighting – and losing - on the reality television show The Contender,” has had an up and down career so far, winning the WBO NABA light middleweight title over Anthony Bonsante in May 2004, before losing to Alfonso Gomez three months later, and then twice to Sergio Mora in 2005. However, Manfredo looked impressive against knockout artist Scott Pemberton, when he stopped him in the 3rd round in February 2006. Unfortunately, Manfredo’s brief period of good luck ran dry against Calzaghe.
