Amir Khan Crushes Bull

amir khan07.04.07 - By James Slater: Tonight, in the main support bout to Calzaghe-Manfredo, lightweight sensation Amir Khan made it twelve wins out of twelve with an impressive third round stoppage of the experienced Stefy Bull. Bull, now 24-5-1 (5) tried to get on his bike and ride out Khan's initial storm, but Amir would not be denied. Though he may have been a touch over anxious at times, Khan put his punches together with lightening speed. A KO win clearly on his mind, the twenty year old got what he wanted.

In the first, Bull, a southpaw, was under pressure immediately as Amir came out for business. Stefy went on the back foot and did well to get through the torrid opener - clearly Khan's round. The only bad point of the session for the unbeaten lightweight came when one of his blows landed low on Bull, and a short time-out was ordered by referee Marcus McDonald.

In the second, Khan resumed his attack and landed more hurt, including some to Stefy's body. Basically it was all Khan for another three minutes. Bull was game, however. Still, it was obviously not going to be his night. 10-9 for Amir again.

Then, in the third, the end came. Khan opened up at around the half way point of the round and overwhelmed Bull with an array of shots. The most painful of which appeared to be body punches from both hands. Stefy sank to the canvas under the onslaught and only just beat the count. He clearly wanted no more upon doing so, though, and McDonald waved it off. The time was one minute and forty-five seconds.

Khan looked superb as he improved to 12-0 (9) while Bull gave it a shot in losing for the sixth time in his career. Is Amir the best lightweight in Britain as he now claims? It's certainly beginning to look like it.
