Maccarinelli destroys Gunn!

07.04.07 - By James Slater: Tonight, at The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on the under-card of Joe Calzaghe-Peter Manfredo, defending WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli made extremely short work of Canada's Bobby "The Machine" Gunn. As expected by many beforehand, Gunn, aged thirty-three and with a now 16-3 (1 no-contest) record, was in way over his head. This was made apparent with little over a minute of the opening round gone as Enzo's wickedly powerful fists made Gunn's legs dip and had his nose busted up..

Bobby tried his best, attempting to go to the body, but he was hopelessly overpowered. Enzo saw this all too quickly and went for his second one round win in a row. A hurtful burst of shots got through with just under a minute left of the session and the referee, America's Mark Nelson, administered a count as Gunn was in severe trouble and fell into the ropes. The action was permitted to continue, but not for long. Wasting no time, the twenty-six year old Welshman opened up on the badly bloodied Gunn again and this time Nelson dived in to save the Canadian from further punishment. The time was two minutes and thirty-five seconds. Enzo improved to 26-1 (20). He will need sterner tests than this though.
