WBO Champ Shannon Briggs to throw out first pitch in Florida

Miami, FL - April, 6 2007 -- This Saturday, April 7, 2007 the Florida Marlins square off against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. Throwing out the honorary first pitch; will be America's lone heavyweight boxing champion, Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs (48-4-1 42KO's). Fans that arrive early can get a signed picture of the WBO champ between 5:15-5:45pm. First pitch is at 6:45, game starts at 7:05. Briggs' first title defense on June 2nd against undefeated Sultan Ibragimov (20-0-1 17KO's), will now take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. The fight was originally scheduled to take place in Russia, but has now been moved to the states.
