By Per Ake Persson: March 10, Mannheim, Germany: IBF and IBO heavyeight champ Wladimir Klitschko knocked out American challenger Ray Austin at 1:23 of the second round. After a slow opener where Klitschko used his reach to keep Austin at bay the champion upped the pace in the second. Wladimir jabbed and then jumped in with the left hook with Austin against the ropes and the challenger was both hurt and surprised - a bad combination. Klitschko landed with three more left hooks, with the second even more hurtful and Austin went down. Ray got up but had his back against the ring as referee Eddie Cotton tolled ten and out with the crowd booing Austinīs sloppy defence and cheering Wladimir.
