Boxing And Disco on Saturday, March 31, 2012 At Warner Center Marriott

Woodland Hills, California (March 6, 2012) – In the early 1970s, professional boxing in Woodland Hills, California was a regular occurrence when legendary Hall of Fame Promoter “Dandy” Don Fraser hosted a weekly show at the historic Valley Music Theater on Ventura Boulevard. On Saturday, March 31, 2012, the spirit of the 70s will be welcomed back as the only regular pro boxing show in the San Fernando Valley returns to the Warner Center Marriott with “SATURDAY BOXING FEVER,” a special 70s themed installment of Art of Boxing and Bash Boxing’s “War at Woodland Hills” boxing series.

Started in 2007 by former NABO Super Flyweight Champion Kahren Harutyunyan, who later associated with boxing attorney and manager, Steve Bash, the “War at Woodland Hills” boxing series is now in its sixth year. Boxing fans who have grown accustomed to the exciting live action and intimate setting of the Warner Center Marriott Grand Ballroom are encouraged to bring their favorite bell bottoms and disco shoes for a fun night of professional boxing and 70s entertainment on March 31.

Highlighting “Saturday Boxing Fever” will be the returns of Boxing360’s former National Amateur Champion and current undefeated pro Donyil Livingston, new local boxing phenomenon Zachary “Kid Yamaka” Wohlman, undefeated prospects from the famed Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, Herbert Acevedo and Erik Ruiz, and highly regarded female boxer Celine Roman.

Livingston (8-0-1, 4KOs), from Palmdale, California, won a close split decision against tough veteran Michael Walker (19-11, 12KOs) in his last appearance at the Warner Center Marriott. Wohlman, (2-0), put on a boxing clinic against Japanese import Tatsuro Irie (0-2), while pleasing his adoring fans that repeatedly chanted “YA-MA-KA, YA-MA-KA” (referencing the phonetic spelling of Wohlman’s nickname given to him by his trainer Freddie Roach because of his Jewish heritage). Oxnard’s Herbert Acevedo (6-0, 3KOs) and Erik Ruiz (4-0, 2 KOs) have both performed brilliant in Woodland Hills and hope to add to their unblemished professional records on March 31st. Also returning will be undefeated female boxer Celine Roman (2-0), who has called Woodland Hills home with all of her professional fights taking place in the Warner Center Marriott. Roman beat previously undefeated boxer Claudia Amaro in her last bout.

Some new faces from the best gyms and boxing clubs in Southern California are also scheduled to box on March 31st, including Espinoza Boxing Club’s Daniel Roman (2-1), Robert Garcia Boxing Academy’s Carlos Rodriguez (2-0) and Neil Arellano (pro debut), and a trio of boxers from Freddie Roach’s Wildcard Boxing Club in Tyrell “Hollywood” Hendrix (7-1-2), Javier Albonica (2-1), and female boxer Holly “Lil Bear” Lawson (1-1).

“It doesn’t feel like it but Kahren Harutyunyan and I have now worked together on these shows for over five years,” commented Bash Boxing’s Steve Bash. “Our fans want to see good fights first and foremost and they have been treated to some of the most competitive and exciting fights that can ever come out of a ballroom show. And we love adding the fun acts, contests, and themes that keep fans entertained in between the fights as well. This winning combination is why we have managed to sell out nearly every show and why “SATURDAY BOXING FEVER” on March 31st will be our best show to date.”
