Boxing News: Winky Wright, Moore vs Baysangurov, Chambers-Castillo Undercard

Tampa, September 30, 2008—Entertainment icon Diddy and NFL great Deion Sanders are set to host a series of star-studded events entitled “The Good Life Experience” along with hometown boxing champion Winky Wright at Tampa Bay’s premier nightspot The Venue January 29-31..

“The Good Life Experience” will be a series of uniquely-themed celebrity driven events and parties with limited access to the general public and boasts a celebrity-packed guest list with first-class entertainment and hospitality.

“When I called Deion and Diddy to ask them to join me in creating three first-class nights unlike anything Tampa Bay has ever seen, I was very excited when they both said ‘yes,'” said Winky Wright, the former undisputed light middleweight world champion and current middleweight contender.

Wright is set to welcome co-host Diddy at the initial event Thursday, January 29 titled “Champions of the Good Life.” This “Vegas Fight Night” themed extravaganza will not only launch the “The Good Life Experience” series with celebrity friends in attendance, but also Wright’s new charitable foundation.

“I am honored to have a portion of the proceeds from this event go to The Winky Wright Foundation, as well as The Charity for Women,” added Wright. “To launch my foundation in the company of local friends, national celebrities and the beneficiaries of these charities is a blessing.”

The trio will move towards the remaining two nights with Deion hosting Friday’s “Legends of The Good Life” and Diddy hosting “Icons of The Good Life” a Diamonds and Pearls themed Gala on Saturday.

“I am extremely excited to join Winky and Diddy as a host, and to take some time to celebrate ‘The Good Life’ with my closest friends, teammates and football fans,” said Deion Sanders while in the midst of the National Football League season as a commentator for NFL Networks.

“This season is going to be very exciting,” added Sanders. “No matter who is in ‘the big game,’ these three nights are sure to be memorable.”

JAMIE MOORE vs Zaurbek Baysangurov

JAMIE MOORE will now fight for the vacant European light-middleweight title after Zaurbek Baysangurov dramatically gave up the title. Purse bids for their showdown were due to be opened in Rome this morning, but just minutes before the Russian ducked out of fighting Jamie.

Salford’s Moore will now face the next available contender and his team expect that to be Italy’s former IBF welterweight and European light-middleweight champion Michele Piccirillo.

Promoter Frank Maloney said: “We were confident of winning the purse bids, but Baysangurov was not confident of coming to England.

“Jamie was more than willing to go to Germany or Russia. That shows his fighting heart.

“We are now waiting for the EBU to name the next contender in rankings and we will enter a short period of private negotiations before the fight goes to purse offers.

“I’m confident that Jamie will get his chance in England, hopefully before the end of November.”
