In an interview with BoxNation TV Fury discussed his upcoming bout with Christian Hammer and then inevitably went on talk about his proposed bout with lineal champ Wladimir Klitschko.

The interviewer asked Fury if there was any pressure knowing that he was within touching distance of a world title opportunity. Denis Boytsov was an undefeated fighter who earned a mandatory shot but then lost it to Alex Leapai before getting his opportunity.

Fury may be mandatory, but his decision to have an extra fight before taking on Klitschko could prove to be a fatal one should he end up losing. We saw Leapai fight Klitschko and ended up losing via KO just last year. Incidentaly Boytsov came back from that loss with two decent wins and his record now stands at 35 – 1 – 0 (26KO). He is only 29 so we could see him challenge again in the next few years.

Fury has spoken before about the fact that he doesn’t believe Klitschko will face him and he is obviously still in that mindset as he said until he is in the ring with Klitschko he isn’t going to act as though the fight is ever going to be made. We saw a similar mistake with Amir Khan who believed he was in with a shot at either Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao only to be left out when those two managed to organise a fight with each other. Fury is going to go into this fight the same as any other, and that is as a guy who is still trying to earn his shot.

At the end of the interview Deontays name came up. Fury made his opinion clear that he believed he himself was the man to beat in the division. Tyson is one of the only opinionated, outspoken, undefeated heavyweights around right now. Wilder and Fury are probably the biggest talkers in the division and with both being undefeated that makes for an extremely interesting fight. I do not know whether that is one that will ever be made, but it should be. Fury said that the Klitschko fight is an easy one compared to Wilder, but should he beat Klitschko, will look to unify in the following fight.
