In an interview with IFL TV Eddie Hearn again referenced his plans to set up a big money and exposure fight for IBF welterweight champ Kell Brook in the summer of 2015.

Eddie Hearn now has said that Juan Manuel Marquez is the number one fight that they want, as Marquez is the biggest name out there available for Brook. Whilst they understand that Mayweather and Pacquiao are a bit out of their reach currently, everyone else is on the hit list and the first now on that list is Marquez.

You can only imagine what a victory over Marquez would do for Brooks career and his stock. It is unlikely Brook would be able to manage a KO victory as Marquez has never been stopped, but even via points this would be by far the biggest win of Brooks career. Now Marquez is 41 years old this is a very winnable fight for Brook.

From there he can go on to mix it up with the other top welterweights including another name Hearn mentioned in the interview; Marcos Maidana. Maidana has had his profile raised by two matchups with Floyd Mayweather and has not been a world champion for much of his career so it is possible that this is the kind of fight which would interest him. Definitely after a few of these bouts there will be a new name on the pound for pound list, and so far there is a good chance that this could end up being Brook.

Hearn is obviously excited about the prospect of this as currently his number one fighter is Carl Froch. Froch has been hanging out around the bottom of the top ten pound for pound list for a few years now, but is soon set to retire and this would leave Brook as Matchroom Sports number one fighter. A spot as a pound for pound fighter would keep Brook relevant and would be a great name to headline his shows.
