Bout with Andriy Rudenko could make top prospect of Hughie Fury

So far in the 2 year professional career of Hugie Fury (14-0-0 8KO) he has largely been overlooked in favour of the other top British heavyweights, however that could change this month when Fury takes on Andriy Rudenko (24-1-0 16KO).

Whilst I wouldn’t rate Rudenko as a top 25 heavyweight myself, he is a very good test for the young fighter Fury. Actually in most eyes he will be the favourite going into this fight which would mean a big boost in Hughies stock should he come out victorious.

The most notable name on the resume of Rudenko would be the twelve round decision loss to Lucas Browne in his last outing in August of 2014 which was for both the WBC Eurasia Pacific title as well as the WBA inter-continental title. This fight was a war in which Browne was cut in several places including both eyes and the chin. The decision was a very close one with the final scores being 113-115, 112 -116 and 112 – 117 in the end.

Browne is now rated as a top 25 heavyweight in my book and it speaks volumes about Rudenko for being able to go the full 12 in that kind of fight, especially with Browne who has 19 stoppages in his undefeated 22-0 career.
After this month we could be in a position where we have two members of the Fury family as heavyweights who are both young, hungry and most importantly undefeated. This month will be a big one for the Fury family and there is a lot on the line in terms of future matchups and paydays.
