Yorgey – Kennedy Rematch For WBF Title In Valley Forge

Former world title-challenger Harry Joe Yorgey from Bridgeport, Pennsylvania will continue his climb back to the top when he faces Windsor Mill, Maryland’s Julius Kennedy for the vacant World Boxing Federation North American Middleweight title on June 15 at the Valley Forge Casino Resort.

Promoted by Marshall Kauffman’s Kings Boxing Promotions, this will be a rematch of their original clash this past March won by Yorgey on a close, and disputed, split decision.

35-year-old Harry Joe Yorgey, 26-2-1 (12), went undefeated through his first 23 professional bouts and scored victories over undefeated prospects such as Jason LeHoullier (21-0-1) and Ronald Hearns (21-0) to win a couple of regional belts, before being derailed by Alfredo Angulo in 2009 in a shot at the Interim WBO World title.

After fifteen months out of the ring following the Angulo bout, Yorgey racked up three straight wins through 2011 and 2012, before another setback against the undefeated Jermell Charlo (19-0) last January, followed by the controversial victory over Kennedy in his most recent outing.

“Relentless” Julius Kennedy, two years younger at 33, brings a less impressive resume and a less than stellar 7-5-1 (3), with 1 No-Contest, record, but he proved his capabilities in the first fight with Yorgey, where he gave as good as he got.

Kennedy also shoved what he is made of in a 2010 draw with Jessie Nicklow (20-2-2), challenging for the Maryland State title. Many ringsiders felt that Kennedy deserved better that night, and he will surely be motivated to make the best of what will be his second crack at a championship on June 15.

The Harry Joe Yorgey vs. Julius Kennedy rematch is a real crossroads encounter, where the winner will move on to bigger things, while the loser might be stuck in no-man’s-land with nowhere to go. Both fighters know the importance of a victory, and if its anything like their fight in March, both will go all out to win!
