Tufte edges Martz for Titles

Joshua Tufte (12-0) captured the vacant NABA-US and USBO Heavyweights titles by a 10 round split decision over Daniel “The Mountain” Martz (7-1) at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton, WV Saturday night. The 6’7 264 pound Martz landed the heavier shots, but Tufte’s effective counter punching earned him the close nod.

No knockdowns were recorded. In the co-feature, local featherweight Ronnel Green (6-0) remained undefeated with a six round unanimous decision over a game Micah Branch. Also, former college football and amateur boxing standout, Angelo Magnone (1-0), made a successful debut by stopping heavyweight Brandon Winner (3-8) on cuts at the conclusion of round 3.
