Thomas to Honor Local Boxing World Champion Adrien Broner

Councilmember Pamula Thomas will hold a press conference Thursday, October 3, at 11 a.m., to present Adrien Broner with a Resolution honoring him for his successful career to date. The press conference will be held at the Horseshoe Cincinnati Casino, 1000 Broadway (Downtown Cincinnati). Adrien Broner is a world champion professional boxer who was born and raised in Cincinnati.

“Adrien is a role model for our community and is an outstanding example of what you can accomplish through determination and hard work,” Councilmember Thomas said. “Adrien began his career right here in Cincinnati and has gone on to win three World Championships in boxing since then, without losing a fight. This is an incredible achievement for him, and a source of incredible pride for Cincinnati to call him our own.”

Adrien Broner grew up in the English Woods neighborhood, and trained alongside three-time Olympian Rau’shee Warren, through his teen and adult years. Since his professional debut, he remains undefeated in 27 fights with 22 knockouts.

In attendance at the press conference will be Councilmember Pam Thomas, Adrien Broner, his trainer Mike Stafford, members of his family, as well as additional members of his support team.

Councilmember Pamula Thomas is a first-term Democrat on Council. She was appointed to Council in April to fill a vacancy. Born in Cincinnati, Councilmember Thomas is a graduate of Sycamore High School and the University of Cincinnati.
