PROFESSIONAL BOXING RETURNS TO HOLLYWOOD PARK CASINO
Inglewood, California – It”s been nearly 5 years since Art of Boxing Promotions and Bash Boxing presented their first show at Hollywood Park Casino in December of 2008. That evening saw two former World Champions, Roman Karmazin and Bronco McKart, square off in a 12 round main event while future ESPN, Showtime, and HBO fighters Ismayl Sillakh, Lateef Kayode, and Willie Nelson rounded out the undercard.
On Saturday, July 13, 2013, Bash Boxing and Art of Boxing return to the Hollywood Park Casino for a show promoted by the country”s premiere boxing promotions company, Top Rank. Similar to the first show at Hollywood Park Casino, the July 13th boxing card will be packed with world-class fighters from all over the world.
World-ranked super featherweight Alejandro “El Alacran” Perez (17-3-1, 11KOs) will headline the Solo Boxeo Tecate boxing show that will be aired on UniMas. In the co-feature, American boxing fans will witness the first fight on U.S. soil for former WBC Feathertweight and Super Featherweight Champion, Japan”s Takahiro Ao (23-3-1, 10KOs).
Perez, born in Jacona, Michoacan, Mexico and raised in Salinas, California, has been a fixture at Freddie Roach”s Wildcard Boxing Club in Hollywood for many years. “El Alacran” is coming off one of his career-best wins, a decision over previously unbeaten Art Hovhannisyan to win the NABO 130-pound title.
Ao, one of Japan”s most decorated boxers, won the WBC Featherweight World Title against Mexican Great Oscar Larios in 2009. The following year, the southpaw from Tokyo stepped up in weight and captured the WBC Super Featherweight title. Ao defended his green belt three times until losing a close decision Mexico”s Gamaliel Diaz in October of last year.
