NABA Canada Champ Chris Norrad Meets Fellow Undefeated Prospect Hamel on May 11
Boisetown, NB (April 12, 2013) – Undefeated NABA Canada cruiserweight champ Chris Norrad (11-0-0, 6KO) of Boisetown, New Brunswick, will put his perfect record on the line on May 11 at the Shediac Festival Arena in Shediac, New Brunswick, when he meets power punching sensation Alexandre “the Brickman” Hamel (3-0-0, 3KO) of St-Pie de Bagot, Quebec, in an eight round, non-title contest.
Norrad won the NABA Canada cruiserweight championship in March 2012, scoring a split decision victory over former National Championship of Canada (NCC) titlist and current National Boxing Authority (NBA) Eastern Canadian champ Frank White at Casino New Brunswick. “I can’t wait to get back in the ring and continue my rise to the top of the cruiserweight division,” said Norrad. “Alex is a heavy puncher. I look forward to the challenge.” Hamel has stopped all three of his opponents to date, including the always tough Patrick Tessier (4-17-2, 2KO) and former Maritime champion Guy Desforges (5-11-0, 3KO).
The Norrad-Hamel contest is being promoted by Fightin’ Fisherman Promotions and is billed as an Eastern Canadian championship clash. “Once I win the Eastern Canadian championship, I’ll be looking to defend my NABA Canada title in July. I don’t want to just sit on the belt. I want to defend it and show I’m the real Canadian champion!” Tickets for Norrad-Hamel will be on sale shortly.
