Nielsen, Pinzon make weight ahead of Nordic Fight Night in Copenhagen

Here are the weights from Copenhagen, Denmark ahead of tomorrow´s Nordic Fight Night at MusikTeatret Albertslund.

WBA & WBO Intercontinental Middleweight Title:
Patrick Nielsen: 72,5 kg
Jose Pinzon: 72,5 kg

Light Welterweight:
Klara Svensson: 64,3 kg
Borislava Goranova: 64,5 kg

“I will take the fight to Nielsen,” Pinzon promised. “We have a great boxing heritage, a great tradition in Mexico, and my style is very Mexican. I am aggressive and come forward a lot. From studying Nielsen I think I can say that we are quite similar, we both like to go forward. Styles make fights and this one will be entertaining.”

Nielsen will be fighting in his home city of Albertslund for the first time of his professional career. “I don´t feel additional pressure,” he said. “If anything, the homecoming gives me more energy because I am around the people I like and love. I can only benefit from fighting at home. I´ll just go out, do my job and beat my opponent.”

Promoter Nisse Sauerland believes that Pinzon is the final obstacle between the 22-year-old Dane and a title fight in 2014. “This is a big night for Patrick,” he stated. “He has progressed very well in 2013 so if he wraps up the year in style he will fight for a world title in 2014. Fingers crossed that all goes well, Pinzon is a strong opponent. Mexicans always come to fight. Pinzon is aggressive and will go to war with Patrick.”

Said coach Joey Gamache: “Patrick got all the tools to be successful – and he will need them against Pinzon. I´ve seen his fights, he´s a strong, durable opponent. Patrick will have to be at the top of his game to beat him.”

Meanwhile, the Guinness Book of Records has officially accepted Team Sauerland´s attempt to break the world record for fan noise. “We´ve brought some 2000 ear plugs with us,” Sauerland said. “We´ll have everything we need to get our names in the record books – a great venue, a crazy crowd and fantastic fights. The atmosphere will be sensational on Saturday.”

Patrick´s brother Micki Nielsen will also be in action, fighting Bjoern Blaschke from Germany. Dennis Ceylan will be looking to expand his unbeaten streak when he takes on Edgar Torres from Mexico. Tickets are available at

Micki Nielsen to fight Bjoern Blaschke on November 16 / Full undercard

The full card for the Nordic Fight Night at Musikteatret Albertslund has been set, with Bjoern Blaschke (9-2, 5 KOs) confirmed as the new opponent for Micki Nielsen. The unbeaten Danish cruiserweight (10-0, 8 KOs) was slated to face Andreas Guenther, who pulled out on short notice. “I don´t care who I fight,” Micki Nielsen said. “Whoever gets in the ring with me in my hometown will get defeated!”

Blaschke, from Germany, boasts a record of nine victories and two losses, along with 5 KOs. “The fight is scheduled for eight rounds, which is longer than Micki has ever fought before,” promoter Nisse Sauerland said. “Of course the Albertslund fans will be hoping for a KO win, so it will be important for Micki to keep his composure and stick to the game plan. That´s not easy when a packed arena wants you to jump on your opponent and put him down. But I am sure Micki will manage.”
Micki and his brother Patrick, who will defend his WBA&WBO Intercontinental Middleweight Titles against Jose Pinzon in the main event of the evening, will hold a special fan work-out tomorrow (Saturday, Nov 9) at 14:00 at the City2 Shopping Centre in Taastrup.

On the undercard on November 16, Rashid “The Dream” Kassem (3-0, 1 KO) will come face-to-face with French KO specialist Maxime Roussel (4-1-1, 4 KOs). All four of the 23-year-old´s victories have come by the way of KO. For the full fight card, please visit Tickets are available at
