Chris Male Ready To Go

By Jon Sidaway, UKO Boxing: Punching postman, Chris Male, has declared himself fit and ready for his rescheduled British Super Featherweight Eliminator fight with Coventry’s Troy James.

Male pulled out of the initial match-up through injury back in September but is now ready to grasp his second chance at a possible British Title shot.

“The buzz is greater than ever and I’m thankful it’s been rescheduled, ” he told “It’s a big fight and you don’t realise how big it actually is until it is nearly taken away

“With the Super Featherweight division in Britain being the way it is, it’s the fight I wanted which can open other doors. This fight is even bigger for me now and one I’m really buzzing for.

“I’m feeling great and I’m ready to go give it my all now.”

The ‘Male Man’ withdrew from the preliminary fight due to a calf injury sustained during a sparring session with fellow stablemate, Steven Pearce, who also fights on EJKO Promotions’ ‘Double Trouble 2’ show at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday, 16th November.

It was another setback for the 31-year old, who has picked up a catalogue of injuries since turning professional in 2008, including a broken hand and torn rotator cuff. However, Male is now fully fit and looking forward to fight night.

“It’s a fantastic bill with some exciting fighters on. Chris Keane and Steven Pearce are exciting, it’s local at Walsall Town Hall and it promises to be a brilliant night.

“It’s a great advert for Midlands boxing and everyone will be out to put on a show for the fans.”

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 Ringside, are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

Also on the bill is Stourbridge’s Steven Pearce who takes on Stafford’s Rob Hunt for a British Masters Welterweight strap.

Walsall’s Chris Keane makes an appearance alongside West Bromwich welterweight prospect, Tom Stokes, who takes on the evergreen Danny Donchev and ‘Tipton Slasher’ Lee Glover steps in with Igor Tsujev at super featherweight.

Stoke lightweight, Andy Keates, features against the vastly experienced Bheki Moyo whilst Halesowen super middleweight Lennox Clarke debuts against Congo-born Didier Blanch. Tipton flyweight, Ainsley Ratcliffe, completes the line-up against Csaba Kovacs.

Stafford’s Grant Cunningham, has withdrawn due to work commitments.

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 Ringside, are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900. The aftershow party will take place at The Pitch Sports Bar and Grill, Bridge Street, Walsall.
