Jose Zepeda Added To 4/26 “Boxing By The Beach” Card
Prized undefeated prospect and Top 15 world-ranked Lightweight Jose “El Chon” Zepeda (18-0, 16 KOs) has been added to the TV portion of the April 26th Solo Boxeo Tecate on Unimas card at Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California. Zepeda, a devastating puncher who holds a nearly 90% knockout rate and is riding a 12-bout knockout streak, will face off against perennial spoiler and tough-as-nails veteran, Robert “Red Hot” Frankel (32-14-1).
Zepeda fought three times in 2013 against former world title challenger Ricardo Dominguez (37-9-2), battle-tested veteran Luis Arceo (28-11-4), and fellow prospect Emanuel (9-1). All three bouts ended early before the fourth round. In his last bout March 1, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas, Zepeda outdid his 2013 performances with an even earlier second round stoppage of Johnny Edwards (15-6-1).
Zepeda is a Southern California native, born in Long Beach and residing in La Puente. He is trained by Robert Alcazar, the former trainer of Oscar De La Hoya during his Gold Medal and 7 World Title run, the late two-division Champion Edwin Valero, and current world title challenger Jesse Vargas. In preparation for his April 26th bout at the Oceanview Pavilion, Zepeda spent the past few weeks helping to prepare Timothy Bradley for this Saturday’s pay-per-view showdown with Manny Pacquiao.
