Jordan Shimmell signs with Al Haymon
Jordan Shimmell, 15-0 with 13 KOs, has just signed a contract with Alan Haymon for him to be Jordan’s advisor. Jordan Shimmell, who is a fast rising prospect/contender in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, turned pro less than 2 years ago and is already the USBO cruiserweight champion and a world ranked boxer. Jordan and his father/manager/trainer Dennis Shimmell Sr had considered several offers during the last year, but being able to join forces with Haymon, just seemed to make the most sense.
Jordan Shimmell wins via 1st round TKO & moves to 15-0
Jordan Shimmell fought in an 8 round featured bout at the Danceland Ballroom in Davenport, Iowa last night, May 31, 2014. It was Jordan’s second time boxing in the historic venue near the Mississippi River as he won his 6th bout there via 2nd round knockout over Clinton Boldridge on November 10, 2012. This time Jordan fought Jonathon Corn, a veteran of nearly 80 fights (47-27-3), and Jordan won via TKO at 2:14 of the 1st round. Jordan landed many jabs, right hands and left hooks to the head along with various body punches and a few uppercuts to the head. Jordan took control of the bout from the opening bell and never let up. Corn went down and then the bout was waved off.
Jordan Shimmell is the USBO Cruiserweight Champion and has the following world rankings: #22 by the IBO, #26 by BoxRec, and #35 by the WBC at cruiserweight and #22 by Sports-Ratings.com at heavyweight. Jordan is ranked #2 by the NABA, #2 in the U.S. by BoxRec, #7 by the USBA, #7 by the NABO and #11 by the NABF.
Jordan Shimmell sparred with WBC Light Heavyweight Champ Adonis Stevenson for 2.5 weeks to help Adonis get prepared for his title fight on Showtime against Andrzej Fonfara. Last year Jordan sparred with both Adonis and Andrzej to help both prepare for successful title fights and Jordan also sparred with Heavyweight Champ Wladimir Klitschko to help Klitschko prepare for one of his world title fights last year. Jordan is on the cusp of fighting on TV and fighting for the world title. In less than 2 years as a professional boxer, Jordan has already shown great progress in his development and is 15-0 with 13 knockouts. Jordan is one of the top cruiserweight and heavyweight prospects in the world.
