Jenkins ready to step up

SCOTT “HOT SHOT” JENKINS is hoping to get a belt around his waist before the end of the year.

The Sheffield prospect has breezed through 12 fights as professional and feels he’s closing in on title opportunities.

He will look to add to his experience when he appears on Hatton Promotions’ massive card at the Ponds Forge Arena on April 26 and should be pushed towards ten round level after the summer.

“I want to be stepping it up now and looking towards a title fight this year. Something like an Area title would be great,” the 23-year-old lightweight said.

“I’ve only done six rounds so far, but my manager, Richard Poxon, has said he’s thinking about moving me up to eight-rounders and I want to get more rounds under my belt before moving on.

“I think I can do long fights easily so I reckon I’ll be knocking on doors for some sort of title before the end of the year.

“I’m only 23 and I think I’ll get a small title in 2014 and then when I’m 24 I’ll be really going for it and aiming for the British.”

The April 26 bill is topped by Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne’s Commonwealth heavyweight tussle with Canada’s Eric Martel Bahoeli. Kazakhstan’s Zhanat Zhakiyanov challenges European bantamweight champion Karim Guerfi in the chief supporting contest, while Sheffield’s own Adam Etches faces Felipe De La Paz Teniente for the vacant WBC youth middleweight crown.

Also starring will be Ricky Hatton-trained prospects Adam Little and Ryan Burnett, hard-hitting Belarusian Kirill Relikh, Leo D’Erlanger, Kash Ali and Dave Howe.

Ticket prices are priced at £35 (General Admission), £55 (Reserved Floor Seats), £75 (Ringside) and £100 (VIP Ringside). They can be purchased from 07747 474701.
