Jason Welborn is feeling sharp ahead of his ring return on Saturday

The 27 year-old Black Country welterweight takes on durable Tomasz Mazurkiewicz on It’s-A-Bout-Boxing’s show ‘Salvation’ at the Institute, Digbeth, Birmingham on Saturday, 29th June.

The Rowley Regis scrapper has been sparring British Champion, Frankie Gavin, in the build-up to his clash with Mazurkiewicz, who tested Craig Watson when the pair met last year. Welborn is expecting a tough fight but he is confident of victory.

“I’m feeling good,” Welborn told www.uko-boxing.com. “I’m feeling sharp and had some great sparring with Frankie.

“The weight has come off nicely and I’m just looking forward to it. I’m based just down the road from Digbeth, so I’ll have plenty of support on the night.

“Tomasz is a tough kid. He’s a typical Eastern European fighter, so it’s a good fight for me to get some rounds under my belt. I haven’t fought since January so this is perfect for me.”

Also on the Institute bill at the Institute is Coventry’s Troy ‘Terrifying’ James who takes on Andy Harris over 4 three-minute rounds.

Two prospects go head-to-head as Welshpool’s Warren Sinden takes on Zimbabwe-born, Birmingham-based banger, Disney Huni.

Also in action is Northampton lightweight, Jamie Spence, who takes on ‘Gypsy Boy’ Billy Smith. The former Prizefighter contender, who has fought the likes of Lee Purdy and Derry Matthews, will be looking to build on his recent victory over Matt Seawright.

Prospects Michael Mooney and Ainsley Seivwright complete the card, taking on  Oliver Rainbird and Pavels Senkovs respectively. It’s-A-Bout-Boxing are also hosting Frankie Gavin’s aftershow party after the Salvation show following Gavin’s clash with Denton Vassell 24 hours earlier.

Tickets are priced at just £25 General, £50 Ringside and £75 VIP Ringside. They are by calling the Box Office on 0845 467 3930 or 07888 870 650.
