Hatton Excited About Bodypower Expo
RICKY HATTON says he cannot wait to get hands-on with personal trainers and group exercise instructors at this week’s BodyPower Expo at the NEC in Birmingham.
More than 55,000 people are set to attend the three day event which runs from Friday until Sunday and ‘The Hitman’ will be donning his focus pads to show delegates some of the techniques used in his Hatton Academy programme.
Each taster session will last for 30 minutes and aims to demonstrate to PTs the benefits boxing can have when used as part of a training regime.
Launched last year, the Hatton Academy is the only boxing for fitness programme to be officially accredited by the British Boxing Board of Control and the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP).
“I’ve been to BodyPower twice before and it’s always had a fantastic atmosphere, but I think this year’s will be better than ever,” Hatton said.
“Last time I did a few rounds on the pads with some of the lads I train and promote but this year I’ll be doing sessions with people who just learning about the benefits of boxing training.
“After I retired, I decided to become a trainer because I wanted to pass on some of the skills I learned during my career.
“I know I wasn’t always the cleanest of livers, but I feel very proud that I’ve been able to develop a programme that will help people to get fitter as well as get more interested in boxing.
“I can’t wait to get to Birmingham now and put a few people through their paces.”
Jon Eades, Hatton Academy’s training and educational director, added: “The response to the taster sessions has been incredible and who better to learn about boxing skills from than a four-time world champion like Ricky?
“I’m confident that people will be impressed by what see this week and will want to go further by booking onto one of our courses”.
