Lennox Clarke Wants KO

By Daniel Mole

Lennox Clarke is ready to put in a knock-out performance when he faces Joe Walsh at Walsall Town Hall next month.

The Halesowen super middleweight has recorded a hat-trick of victories since switching from white-collar boxing last November.

The 22 year-old recorded a stunning second-round debut stoppage over James Child on his debut before picking up a points victory over Jody Meikle in December and a points win over debutant Shaun Law in March.

Ahead of his appearance on EJKO Promotions’ ‘The Heat Is On’ on Friday, 11th July, Clarke insists he is ready to deliver a knock-out blow to his opponent.

“This is the best I’ve felt,” he told “I feel really strong and I’m going out there looking for the stoppage.

“Walsh is more experienced than me but I saw what my good friend, Ricky Summers did to him last year (third round TKO) and I’ll be looking to do the same.

“I’ve been working on my sharpness and my pad work has improved a lot. I’ve also been doing more sprint and endurance work to improve me power and speed. It is working and I can really tell the difference when I drive home my shots.

“I’ve been sparring Grant Cunningham, who is also on the bill, which helps. We’re both at the same stage of our camps and we’re the same weight, so it is good for us both. I’m just working up to the 11th July. Walsh will be getting it!”

Stafford’s Cunningham takes on Jamie Ambler as Tipton’s Lee Glover tops ‘The Heat Is On’ bill in a British Masters Featherweight Title fight.

Walsall’s British Masters Light Welterweight Champion, Luke Paddock, is chief support as he takes on Portsmouth’s Lewis O’Mara.

Wolverhampton brother’s Des and Sid Bowater are also in action. Super featherweight, Des, takes on the experienced Kristian Laight whilst elder brother, Sid, is set to make his professional debut at welterweight

Birmingham super featherweight prospect, Sean ‘Show Time’ Davis, takes on Bristol’s Harvey Hemsley and fellow Brummie, light middleweight, John Hutchinson, takes on the experienced Kieron Gray.

Tickets, priced at £30 and £60 Ringside, are available from Walsall Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900.

The show will be aired live and exclusive on BBC WM’s DAB Digital Service and online at The aftershow party and weigh-in both take place at the Pitch Sports Bar and Grill on Bridge Street, Walsall.
