Brewer Scores Unanimous Decision over Lafreniere in Moncton
Moncton, New Brunswick (June 16, 2013) – Last night Brandon “L-Jack” Brewer (8-0-1, 3KO) continued his march towards a Canadian title shot by scoring an eight round, unanimous decision over Francis Lafreniere (3-4-2, 2KO) of Quebec to claim the vacant National Boxing Authority Eastern Canadian middleweight title. After the loss, Lafreniere immediately claimed he deserved the win to http://www.themainfight.com, despite all three judges seeing it in favor of Brewer: 77-76, 77-76, 78-75. Brewer was not surprised by Lafreniere’s comments.
“I’m sorry Francis feels that way,” said Brewer, “but when has Francis lost and not thought he won? Every time he loses, he believes he won. It’s nothing out of the ordinary for him to think that. I think it was another good fight, but I clearly won. We stuck to the game plan for the most part, but got sucked into a war in the eighth round, in which I put him on the ropes and punched him for 3 straight minutes.”
Despite Lafreniere’s comments, Brewer maintains that his opponent is an admirable man. “It was an entertaining fight and I’m sorry he feels the way he does. He always says this stuff when he loses. He’s a great guy and a true gentlemen to the sport. I’m glad he finally accepted the rematch. I had a lot of fun in there and I’m glad that I finally got my redemption.”
Brewer will likely be back in action in August. More information about upcoming fights will be released via www.ljackbrewer.com.
