An open letter to Joe Calzaghe from Syd Vanderpool

13.09 - By Syd Vanderpool: Joe Calzaghe is scared to fight me and that is a fact. I want the world to know that while he shoots his mouth off that "there is no one left to fight", he continues to turn down my offers. Quoting Joe, "I haven't been in the ring with the type of opponent who's good enough to be in the ring with me." Finally, Joe is telling the truth. Of course he hasn't been in the ring with good opponents because he keeps fighting tomato cans. The boxing world is not stupid, it's obvious when a fighter avoids fighting the best out there and you my friend are a bad example of it. I have been sitting in the top ten (WBC #5, IBF #5, WBO#7) knocking-out my opponents (34-2, 24 KO) trying to get a fight with you and instead you choose to fight bums like Tocker Pudwill. Well enough is enough. I am the one to give you that spectacular career defining (ending) fight you so desperately deserve.

The person who truly deserves that WBO belt is your manager. Your manager should be the one wearing the belt for his incredible ability to find incompetent embarrassing opponents for you.

And don't tell me that getting dropped in the second round by Mitchell and then getting saved by the home-town ref is worthy of a shot at Hopkins. Its further embarrassing to think that you were actually quoted as saying after the fight with Mitchell "it was my best performance to date." Wow, talk about being punch-drunk.

So, why don't you and your WBO champion manager come to the US and put your tomato-can record on the line. In fact, if you are still afraid to leave the comforts of your home (as expected), then I would be more then happy to expose your incompetence in front of your home town fans. It really doesn't matter, you are going to be knocked-out either way.

But who's kidding who, Joe knows he doesn't stand a chance against me and has repeatedly turned down my offers. The boxing world knows this and until he accepts my challenge he will always be known as Just Another Over-Rated Joe.

Looking forward to hearing back from you Joe.

Syd Vanderpool
