Flamos-Payne titles fight March 7 in Boston

Clampitt-Pudwill WBEW championship co-feature

22.02 - BOSTON -- Jimmy Burchfield's Classic Entertainment & Sports was forced to cancel its February 22 show in Everett, MA, however, the 2001 & 2002 "New England Promoter of the Year" has replaced that show with another pro boxing event, "Proving Ground," scheduled Friday night, March 7 at the Christopher Columbus Center in the North End of Boston.

"We are very excited about this fight," CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. "Everyone says Timmy is all looks and Roy’s all talk. Well, now both have a chance to prove their detractors wrong. This is an exciting main event with a lot of bad blood between these two fighters. I’m glad we were able to find a location to insure that this fight happens."

Moving in as the new co-feature is an 8-round female bout for the vacant WEBA super lightweight title between Jaime "The Hurricane" Clampitt (9-2, 2KOs), of Narragansett, RI, rated No 3 by the WIBF and No. 4 by the IWBF, and former world title challenger Ragan Pudwill, of Minot, ND. The WEBA is an offshoot of the EBA and offers 8-round title fights. Any United States female fighter is eligible to fight for the WEBA crown.

"We are excited to be able to add this female title fight to the show," Burchfield added. "It should be a great fight that adds a lot to the event. This bout was originally scheduled as a 6-rounder, however, when the opportunity came to bump it up to the co-feature, we decided to do make it 8-rounds for the WEBA title."

Also featured on the card is an exciting local 4-round battle between undefeated Bobo "The Bull" Starnino (2-0), of Providence, RI and Bobby McAndrews (1-1-1, 1 KO), of Worcester, MA. Rounding out the undercard will be three to four more bouts, one including undefeated Woonsocket, RI super middleweight Joe Gardner (2-0, 1 KO).

All bouts and fighters are subject to change.

"We are still working on the undercard," Burchfield noted. "We had to make some changes to the show and we will be announcing the rest of the undercard in the next few days."

Ticket prices will be announced in the next day or two. To reserve tickets call Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. at 401-724-2253 or 401-725-2254. Mohegan Sun Casino and Everlast are sponsoring “Proving Ground.”
