DiBella adds a ‘Touch of Sleep’ to his growing stable of stars!
11.12 - DaVarryl “Touch of Sleep” Williamson has entered into an exclusive Matchmaking, Distribution and Marketing agreement with DiBella Entertainment, Inc.
Williamson is currently 17-1, 16KO’s and is generally regarded as a future star in the heavyweight division. With consecutive KO wins over Dale Crowe and Corey ‘T-Rex’ Sanders, Williamson is already knocking on the door to a Top 10 rating after only 18 professional bouts.
At 6’4”, 215lbs, he is quickly dispelling the notion that he is too small for the heavyweight ranks. With 16 of his 17 wins coming by way of KO, the ‘Touch of Sleep’ is certainly living up to his moniker. Williamson possess a wonderful blend of instincts, speed and skill, not to mention a murderous right hand. The new agreement with DiBella Entertainment will help to bring Williamson to the forefront of rising heavyweight prospects.
DiBella Entertainment is a full-service sports and entertainment company founded by its chief executive officer Lou DiBella in May 2000. It will be a company unlike any in existence, representing professional prizefighters, while also developing original television programming, films and documentaries.
In its first major effort, DiBella Entertainment signed seven Olympic fighters from the 2000 Sydney Games: Ricardo Williams, Jr., Jermain Taylor, Clarence Vinson, Michael Bennett, Jose Navarro, Brian Viloria and Jerson Ravelo.
Lou DiBella is highly respected as one of the major forces in boxing following an 11-year tenure at HBO, where “World Championship Boxing” and “Boxing After Dark” became signature programs for the network. Lou DiBella is recognized as a shrewd negotiator and has earned the reputation as one of the premiere matchmakers in the history of boxing.
DiBella Entertainment will put Williamson to work quickly with a ‘debut’ on the January 10, 2003, ESPN2 broadcast of ‘Friday Night Fights’. A potential opponent is 5’11”, 225lbs Robert Wiggins (17-1-1, 10KO)
