N'DOU SENDS CASAMAYOR SCURRYING FOR ASYLUM!

01.11 - Now you see it, now you don't. That is what happened with the deal Gary Shaw, promoter of Phillip N'Dou, 28-1 (27 KOs), struck with Team Freedom and Cedric Kushner, the promoters of former WBA super featherweight champion Joel Casamayor, 27-1 (17 KOs), for a showdown between the top-rated super featherweight contenders.

"They pulled a Houdini on me!" said Shaw, president of Gary Shaw Productions. "I met with Leon Margules of Team Freedom and Cedric Kushner in New York several weeks ago. I had the site deal in place. I had a January date from SHOWTIME. We agreed on all the particulars regarding domestic and international TV rights. The only caveat was they wanted Casamayor to see some tape of N'Dou, which I sent them.

"Next thing I know, they vanish. They don't call, they don't write. I called Luis DeCubas last Monday and he told me he and Casamayor had not viewed the N'Dou tape yet. I followed up on Wednesday and Luis tells me Casamayor will take the fight, but it has to be a 70/30 split. I do not need a teacher from Berlitz to translate this one. Casamayor is seeking asylum again . . . not from Castro, from N'Dou! Casamayor is hiding behind a screwball proposal!

"Now I find out that Casamayor already had a December date in place to fight on ESPN2 when I was dealing with his group. Talk about negotiating in bad faith! He strung out SHOWTIME, my site and N'Dou."

N'Dou is scheduled to fight Javier Torres, 34-17-9, on the SHOWTIME Championship Boxing telecast, Saturday, November 9 at 10 P.M. ET/PT, headlined by the Sharmba Mitchell-Vince Phillips / Jeff Lacy-Ross Thompson rumbles.

"I am going to get N'Dou a fight in the early part of next year against a high-profile opponent," said Shaw. "If it is not Casamayor, it will be someone with as much talent...but more guts."

N´Dou, Mabuza and Sanders Land in Amercia

30.10 - South African superstars PHILLIP N'DOU, SILENCE MABUZA and CORRIE SANDERS landed today at JFK International Airport to begin final training preparations for their November 9 fights at the Coca-Cola Arena in Oklahoma City, OK. Their card will be headlined by the showdown between former world champions and current top-10 contenders, SHARMBA MITCHELL vs VINCE PHILLIPS, and the 12-round WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title fight between undefeated 2000 U.S. Olympian JEFF LACY and defending champion ROSS THOMPSON. The Mitchell-Phillips and Lacy-Thompson bouts will be televised nationally on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, beginning at 10 P.M. ET/PT.

"South Africa is known for its diamonds and these three are real gems," said Gary Shaw, president of Gary Shaw Productions, which is promoting the card with Holden Productions, in association with The Sport Entertainment & Media Group, PLC, Golden Lion Productions, Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and Budweiser.

"South Africa will be taking the entire show 'live' and Britain will be rebroadcasting it via tape-delay. A world-class card like this should be seen worldwide."

Former WBU super featherweight champion and top-rated contender, N'Dou, 28-1 (27 KOs), will rumble with Vincente Burgo, 15-14-4, of Argentina, in a 10-round bout.

"America is the land of opportunity and I am here for MY opportunity to fight any champion for their title," said N'Dou. "Give me your Hamed, your Freitas, and your Mayweather."

Undefeated IBO bantamweight champion Mabuza, 12-0 (11 KOs), making his U.S. debut, will be making his first defense of the title he won in March via a sixth-round knockout of Jose Sanjuanelo. Mabuza will face former WBO Latin America bantamweight champion and former WBO title challenger Javier Torres, 34-17-9, from Argentina.

Former WBU heavyweight champion Sanders, 37-2 (27 KOs), whose resume boasts victories over former wold champions Bobby Cyz, Carlos De Leon and Alfred Cole, will be taking on Otis Tisdale, 20-7-1 (12 KOs) in a 10-round battle. Tisdale has two of his last three bouts, including an impressive win over Chester Hughes, 16-1, this year.
