Winky & Arum on ESPN Radio-LA ...TOGETHER

WINKY WRIGHT AND BOB ARUM
ON-AIR TOGETHER ON "McDONNELL - DOUGLAS SHOW"
TOMORROW! -- ESPN RADIO 710 LOS ANGELES
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13 -- 5:05 P.M. PST

13.02 - Eras are defined by great debates. The nineteenth century had Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas with a U.S. Senate seat at stake. The twentieth century featured John Kennedy and Richard Nixon battling for the presidency. Tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, IBF jr. middleweight champion WINKY WRIGHT and BOB ARUM, promoter for WBC/WBA super welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya, are scheduled to appear together in a "Jr. Middleweight/Super Welterweight Debate" on the popular "McDonnell-Douglas Show" on ESPN Radio 710-AM in Los Angeles. The live segment will begin at 5:05 P.M. PST.

"All I know is there are two champions in the same division who want to unify the title," said Wright. "Oscar has repeatedly said he has never been an undisputed champion and he wants to fight me to do it. But all Arum keep saying is ‘Belt, shmelt,'and the fight is ‘unsaleable.'"

"Shane Mosley had his shot at Oscar and he blew it," continued Wright. "He has gone three fights without a victory and he has spurned a very generous offer. Fernando Vargas, on or off steroids, is just plain shot. If I didn't know better, I would say the Surgeon General warned Arum that ‘Fighting Winky Wright is Hazardous to His Wealth!'"

Wright, 44-3 (25 KOs), is scheduled to make a mandatory title defense against No. 1 contender J.C. Candelo, 26-4-3 (18 KOs), Saturday, March 1, on the John Ruiz - Roy Jones, Jr. WBA Heavyweight Championship card in Las Vegas, NV.
